The president of the Consell of Majorca, Maria Antònia Munar, and the councillor for Environment, Margalida Rosselló, presented on Monday the new Plan for the management of urban residues in Mallorca, with a 17,000 million pesetas investment, that in part will by financed by the Cohesion Fund of the EU. The Plan does not contemplate a third furnace for the incinerator and it shows preference for the recycling. The Plan will be exhibited publicly and the GOB has announced that they are preparing their allegations, with proposals to make the measures of reduction more effective and to advance the closing of the incinerator. According to the ecological organisation, the incinerator at Son Reus can only be closed down increasing the capacity of recycling.
