The local Mallorcan television
Canal 4 is preparing to go online. The person responsible for this project is the man from the channel,
Tomeu Madico de Hermetex-4, the firm that, since 1995, has been carrying out and administering the teletext service of Canal 4.
The new web is still under construction, but different section can already by consulted such as the history of the firm, details of
audience, programme, etc. The languages of the web are Catalan and Spanish, and shortly English and German will be
incorporated.
Canal 4 started in 1986 when four neighbours of the district of Palma, Son Sardina, decided to create a local television. In 1994,
Emilio Bohigas, well known showbusiness businessman, bought the majority of the shares of the firm to become the President of
Canal 4 and initiating the process of professionalisation, strong investment and constant expansion. Recently Canal 4 became the
maind shareholder of TV Sabadell and at present is negotiating the purchase of two new local TV channels in Catalonia.
