The
GOB is denouncing that Cala Tuent is threatened by the construction of a hotel that will end up destroying this
scenery, one of the most spectacular in the Serra de Tramuntana. It is a project by a public Belgian company (S.A.) that intends to
build 12 large blocks only 40 metres from the public maritime-land domain line.
Neither the paralysation by the Mallorcan Council, nor the Territorial Planning Directives (DOT) nor the modification of the LEN, law
for natural areas, have managed to obtain the protection of this corner of the Escorca municipality, and the Escorca Council has
been negotiating the licence to build the hotel in Cala Tuent.
Once the Balearic Government has given permission to build a hotel in Tuent, two years ago, it only remains for the Mallorcan
Council and the Coast Line Authorities to stop the construction.
According to the GOB, now the future of Tuent depends on different administrations. Neither the Consell nor the Govern should lose
the opportunity of stopping the construction of this hotel. Once more the unmeasured speculation and cement may win over the
scenery.
