Anglada Camarasa at Sa Māniga in Cala Millor

The Auditōrium Sa Māniga in Cala Millor will house the exhibition by "Anglada Camarassa" until May 27, organised with the collaboration of the Fundaciķ la Caixa on the islands. The visiting hours are from Tuesday to Saturday between 6 and 9 p.m. Meanwhile, this coming Friday, April 28, at 8 .30 p.m. the Commissioner of the exhibition, Empar Rossellķ, will give a conference about the exhibition, called "Anglada from a distance".

H. Anglada Camarasa (1871-1959) studied in Barcelona and Paris. In 1900 he held his first individual exhibition in Barcelona, and it caused a great impact due to its modernity. Later, he exhibited in Belgium Italy, Germany and England, where, in spite of being very successful, his paintings provoked great controversy. His pictorial motives include the cabarets of 'Paris la nuit', Valencian folkloric scenes, Andalucian gypsies, or typically Mediterranean land or seascapes. As from 1914, Mallorca became his golden refuge. Here, without betraying a well defined personal aesthetic, he started to use the forms particular to the Mallorcan scenery to create new chromatic symphonies of a brilliant construction.

The Gran Hotel of Palma, centre of the Fundaciķn "La Caixa" in the Balearics, houses a permanent exhibition of Anglada Camarasa, that includes 17 oil paintings and a selection of 26 drawings. The exhibitions shows the great moments of the Catalan artist, from his Parisian stage until the second Mallorcan stage.
