Every edition of Sunday's
local press on Mallorca had on the front page the celebration in Deià of the first wedding between a lesbian
couple in the Balearics.
The mayor of Deià, Francesc Salas, presided the ceremony in which Francisca Soler and Cristina Morall formalised their 20 year
relationship as a couple. The union was included in the municipal Registry of Couples 'de facto'.
In the ceremony the two daughters participated, Cris and Mari Toñi, children from their previous heterosexual relationships,
plus many of the couple's friends.
Cristina Morall's daughter, Cris, read some emotional supportive words about the path undertaken by their "mothers" and stated that
families can live under stress due to homosexuality as this is no longer a problem.
Relations and friends of the couple ended the party at Es Pamboliet, Francisca Soler's bar in Deià.
