The
Auditorium de Palma will hold next Tuesday, May 23 at 8.30 p.m., a
concert "Cultures", International Percussion Quartet, interpreted by
Armando Lorente Matesanz "Soloist in the Balearic Symphony Orchestra),
Juan José Guillem (Professor of the National Spanish Orchestra), Shanlin
Jiao (Professor of the Pekin Conservatory) and Philippe Spiesser
(international soloist).
These four musicians form part of a cultural exchange programme of their
respective countries (Spain, China and France), and make an ideal
platform for the most representative composers of the present day music
of each country, to see their work performed in different states where
these concerts are held.
The project "Cultures" started last October with a first tour of the
Popular Republic of China, with concerts and teaching concerts at the
two most important conservatories in China: the "Concert Hall of Shenyan
Conservatory of Music" (Shenyan)and the "Concert Hall of China
Conservatory" (Pekin). The second part of this cycle will be held in
Spain, with this concert that will take place at the Auditorium on May
23 and one that will occur two days later on May 25 at the Circle of
Fine Arts in Madrid. The cycle will end with a tour of concerts in
France, the last host country.
The concert "Cultures", International Percussion Quartet, is sponsored
by the Balearic Government, Sa Nostra and COFUC; and has the
collaboration of the ACA Foundation, The Mallorcan Council, the Public
Foundation of the Balearics for Music and El Mundo/El Dia de Baleares
newspaper.
