The director of the
Balearic Symphony Orchestra,
Salvador Brotons, is
organising the "Contemporary Musical and Universal Music Cycle" together
with the Mallorcan Superior and Professional Conservatory for Music and
Dancing, the ACA Foundation and the Public Foundation of the Balearics
for Music. The cycle includes three free concerts that will be held on
June 15, 22 and 29 at 8 p.m. at the auditorium of the Conservatory
(Capità 80, Palma)
The Contemporary Mallorcan and Universal Music Cycle reserves a special
section for the composers of the Balearics. Therefore music by Bartomeu
Artigues, Xavier Carbonell, Lluís Borràs de Riquer, Josep Prohens, Romà
Alís, Rosa Rodríguez (who premiers the work Vortice) and Tomeu Poquet
can be heard.
The programme of the cycle also includes music by universal contemporary
composers of the category of Stravinsky, Hindemith or Schelling. In fact
the company Albany Records will record the concert "Impressions from an
artist life" by Schelling, that will form part of the last concert on
June 29.
