For many years, the Mapuche people have wanted to call the attention of
the international community towards the agressive expansion by
ENDESA in
Chile, which is putting the very survival of the Mapuches in danger.
The rejection of the building by ENDESA, of the Ralco hydroelectric
power station in the ancestral land of the Mapuches, situated on the
shores of the river Alto Bio-Bio, in Chile, continues to generate
examples of adhesions all over the world, in particular from the
Balearics. We must remember that
GESA, the company that has the
monopoly for electricity distribution on the Islands and, therefore
responsible for the power cut that left the whole of Mallorca, and part
of Menorca, without electricity las June 15, is a subsidiary of ENDESA.
Cecili Buele, MP for the Balearic Parliament, in an article called "
The
Year 200: year of explicit support for the Mapuche people from the
Balearics", writes about a meeting that was held in Menorca last
Saturday, June 17, with different people interested in going in depth
into matters relating to the Mapuches and to reach some conclusions that
they consider to be interesting and profitable for those who wish to
adopt the Mapuche cause, the cause of people who are resisting the
disappearance from the map of history and that requests support in their
open struggle against the Spanish multinational, ENDESA.
