The Irish group, Dervish, will perform on July 12 at 9.30 p.m. at the
Teatre Principal. Three years after their first performance at the
Principal, the group is returning to the Mallorcan stage, expecting the
same receptive audience that it found in the famous concert in Spring
1997. That recital originated, in an improvised way, their fourth
record, "Live in Palma", a double album that has been classed by various
critics as one of the best live recordings of traditional music. At the
same time Dervish will present their latest record, "Midsummer's Night".
Dervish is one of the most popular Celtic groups in the world.
According to their own explanations their success is based on the fact
that they have grabbed at their cultural roots. They reject electronic
instruments and contemporary songs as a way of attracting attention.
