The Scholars, a vocal formation which originated in the famous
King's
College Choir of the Cambridge University, will hold two concerts on
Mallorca, organised by the
ARTS Cultural Services.
On August 17, in Andratx at 10.30 pm. they will perform in Andratx in
the cloister of the Son Mas Castle, the new town hall, in a concert that
will be part of the "
NITS A LA FRESCA" that is being held during August
in Andratx. On August 20, they will perform at the Son Servera church.
From the start of their professional activity, over 25 years ago, the
group, The Scholars, has offer over 2000 concerts in over 50 countries,
figures that few people have obtained in the world of Chamber Music. In
this time they have performed in prestigious halls, such as the Royal
Festival Hall in London, the Lincon Centre in New York and the Sydney
Opera House. Their members are, Kym Amps, soprano; Angus Davidon,
countertenor; Robin Doveton, tenor; and David van Asch, bass.
The Scholars' success for to many years has not only been due to their
exceptional professionallity but also for their unique capacity to
communicate their enthusiasm to the public, what ever the programme may
be. The Scholars' repertoire has always been based on the music "in
chapel" of the European Renaissance, but also includes works and vocal
music of the classical English period.
