Mateu Alemany, until recently a member of the board of
RCD Mallorca, is
now the chairman of the entity, substituting Guillem Reynés. Alemany
commented his wish to maintain the same work style: "if I changed the
line of action I would make a mistake and cause trouble for myself and
the club"; he expressed his satisfaction for his personal situation and
the club's, as it already has 13,900 members.
In representation of the property, Francesc Matosas, vicechairman of
Grupo Zeta, stated that "the new Board will carry on a line of
continuity, as is shown by the fact that Antonio Asensio's son will be
joining."
Last August 28, Mateu Alemany rejected the offer that he had received
from the chairman of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, to become the
manager of the club. After an interview with Antonio Asensio, chairman
of Grupo Zeta and owner of the RCD Mallorca, Alemany accepted the
proposal to become the professional Chairman of the Mallorcan club,
concentrating in this way all the control in his hands.
