Rafael Verdera was launched in Ibiza in 1841 and it is the oldest boat in service of the Spanish fleet. Part of the year,
it stays moored on the old quay of the Port of Palma where its crew organises trips to watch whales and dolphins in the
Mediterranean, to dive, to enjoy sailing and fishing, or even to show the sea and its wealth to youngsters.
The Rafael Verdera participated last year in the making of the film "Presence of mind", with
Lauren Bacall in the cast and directed by
the Mallorcan, Antoni Aloy, and in a TV documentary about the Serra de Tramuntana, the
Archduke Louis Salvador and
Chopin,
presented by the actor
Michael Douglas, owner of the property "S'Estaca" and promoter of the Cultural Centre
Costa Nord in
Valldemossa, where the documentary can be seen.
