The Mallorcan artist, Gabriel Lacomba, opened an exhibition last Saturday
called SOMA-TRANS-LUCID 93/00, at the Torre de ses Puntes in Manacor.
The exhibit is a travelling one and once finished in Manacor, will
transfer to Calvià, Sant Llorenç, Felanitx, Marratxí and Palma, with the
support of the different Town Councils and the Balearic Government, the
Mallorcan Council and Sa Nostra. Finally the works will travel to
Menorca, and will be exhibited in May 2001 at the Menorcan Museum in
Mahon.
SOMA-TRANS-LUCID combines two photographic processes in the same
image: Photogram and that taken with the stenopeic camera. It is a
work that the artist started in 1990, with a series of 10 images, that
won the BIENNAL de BARCELONA in 1991. The precedent of SOMA-TRANS-LUCID
was a series of photograms, in colour, called "Emprentes" that won the
Ciutat de Palma de Fotografía in 1990. The last time that
SOMA-TRANS-LÚCIDO was exhibited was in 1993 at the "SA NOSTRA" cultural
centre in Palma. The exhibit that was opened in Manacor, adds to the
title of the series a reference to the period that had not be shown
until now (93/00).
