Within the artistic circuit of "Nit de l'Art 2000" two exhibitions were
opened at the Casal Solleric in Palma.
The first, by the artist from Pollença, Joan March, on the ground floor
of the Casal, can be visited until October 29. Joan March was born in
Pollença in 1958. He started painting very young, and was one of the
youngest participants in the "Primer Cicle d'Investigacions Plàstiques
d'Alcúdia". He has worked with different styles but has always been
more interested in his own ideas rather than fashions and tendencies.
In his work we can find suggestive orographs, disturbing and worrying
images, seductive sysmologies, a preference for natural materials....
The second exhibition on the mezzanine floor of the Casal, by Esteve
Casanoves, can also be visited until October 29. Esteve Casanoves, born
in Vic, has exhibited in galleries all over the world and has dedicated
part of his career to understanding and dominating light. The works he
creates, water chests, translucent photographs, cushions..., are like
luminous perceivers that reflect life, the passing of time....
Meanwhile, the main floor of the Casal Solleric is the site from
September 6 to October 22 of an exhibition of British and North American
art of the XVII and XIX centuries, from the collection of the National
Museum of Fine Arts of Habana, with portraits, landscapes, seascapes and
still life from this era by English and North American schools.
