The Pollença Museum is to be found in the old Dominican convent. The convent, built between 1588 and 1616, was occupied
by Dominican friars until 1836, when it was closed at the time of the sale of church lands. Since 1975 is has become a cultural
centre where concerts and theatrical performances take place, and also houses the Pollença Museum. .
The name of Pollença appears related to the world of art since the first years of the XX century, when artists came from Paris,
such as Anglada Camarasa, Tito Cittadini and later many others such as Mir or De Creft, attracted by its international renown.
In the 60s the Salon Estival de Pintura was created, now known as the
International Plastic Arts Contest, which throughout its
history has formed the basis of the Pollença Museum.
The museum also houses a group of Gothic Rededos, archaeological pieces, a Buddhist 'mandala' and the Atilio Boveri
collection.
