Napster remains the fastest growing home software application ever

Napster's legal problems are not deterring people from using the service. According to Media Metrix, the usage of the Napster software application increased from 1.1 million users in February 2000 to 6.7 million users in August 2000, a 506.8 percent increase. The controversial music file-swapping service remains the fastest growing application it has ever tracked on the Web.
