After travelling over two years visiting a great part of Mallorca, the exhibition of the Serra will be the whole 2000-2001 course
at
Costa Nord. The cultural centre promoted by the actor,
Michael Douglas, in Valldemossa, will hold the exhibition for the
next 9 months.
The exhibition has informative boards with photographs and maps that explain the most important natural, scenic and
ethnological values of the Serra de Tramuntana. What is more, the exhibition also has an interactive model of the whole range
and three dioramas that reproduce the different habitats.
It is forseen that over 4,000 pupils will visit the exhibition of the Serra, as well as the general public. In fact the exhibition is in
the porchway of the Costa Nord, an area of free entry.
The arrival of the exhibition of the Serra at Costa Nord is the result of a global agreement for collaboration between the
GOB and the cultural area. The people in charge of Costa Nord have shown their interest in environment topics and their desire to
support different initiatives to improve our surroundings. In principle, the collaboration will continue next year with new
projects.
In fact, as well as the exhibition of the Serra, Costa Nord also has products of the GOB in its shop, such as T-shirts and
books. And so, with the sale of this material, Costa Nord collaborates economically with the GOB. In this way, the GOB
wishes to thank the donation that the Costa Nord has made, an example of sensibility towards campaigns for the preservation
of the natural media.
The exhibition will open next Thursday, November 2, at 6.30 p.m. in Costa Nord (Avda. Palma 6 - Valldemossa). The
presence of representatives of the GOB, Costa Nord, Obra Social i Cultural de Sa Nostra, and the Balearic Governement,
represented by the director of environment, Margalida Rosselló, is expected.
