Humanities and New Technologies: Language and Literature

The Social and Cultural Welfare of the "SA NOSTRA" is organising a course "Language and Literature" that will take place in Can Tàpera (Sant Agustí) from November 16 to December 1, 2000. The course is within the cycle " Humanidades y nuevas tecnologías" directed by Perfecto Cuadrado and Francisca Niell. The coordinators of the course are Antonio Bernat and Abraham Madroñal.

According to the organisers, "the new technologies have started to make a profound change to the way we approach a literary work, not only modifying reading habits but also giving the investigators new and powerful instruments for philological analysis. This course goes over some of the fields in which these changes are produced, from linguistics or the increasing importance of the data base lexicons, to the new models proposed today for the critical edition, the presence and characteristics of literature on the net or the administration of the electronic publications of humanities.
