The free service MallorcaWeb FREEmail started on October 26 in 1998 with the objective of promoting the contents relating to Mallorca on Internet. Since then over 2000 users have signed on, with 1,625 accounts still active. The service offers e-mail and 10 MB of web space, extendible to 25MB for web pages dedicated to Mallorca.

The FREEmail of MallorcaWeb started with the intention of consolidating a free service that it had been offering since 1997, and for the need to separate into two different domains, the pages and mail addresses of the users (mallorcaweb.net) and those of MallorcaWeb as a business and publication on Internet (mallorcaweb.com). From the previous era to the creation of FREEmail we can still find active pages that continue to use the .com and not the .net: Fundació Teatre del Mar, Iguana Teatre, Mag Teatre - Mag Poesia, Gabriel Galmés, Diari de Balears: set pintors per al canvi de segle, Biel Majoral, Especial Música 1998-1999 or the CP Ses Rotes Velles.

At present, and using the domain mallorcaweb.net, there is an important list of users who have become authentic invigorators of contents relating to Mallorca on Internet. Amongst others we can quote: Punt de Trobada, Fotografia de natura a Mallorca, Marisa Aldeguer, Gerry Blood, Castellers de Mallorca, Ses Xeremies, Artà, Herbes Dolces, Espirafoc, Fora des sembrat, Homo Erectus, Mal Vici, Escola de Ball de Bunyola, Cucorba, IES Son Pacs, SPAAIS - Didàctica de l'Astronomia, Masm, ARC-46, Programacions d'aula, Guia d'Orientació Laboral, Associació de Geògrafs de les Illes Balears, Unió Mallorquina Sa Pobla, Excursionisme a Mallorca, Ses Paisses, Natura Parc, Mis Bonsai, Institut Baltasar Porcel, Jardí Medicinal Ramon Llull, NU Joves Naturistes de les Illes Balears, Seminari Diocesà de Mallorca, Parròquia de Ntra. These are added to the list of webs of the users who won the Prize for the best Web 2000. These received as a prize the free hosting with the own domain: 9D-La Novena Dimensió, ei! vine de festa, LaVila.org, WebVerd, Palma de Noche and Música Folk de Mallorca.
