Next Tuesday, December 5, at 8 p.m. at the Centre de Cultura "Sa Nostra" (carrer Concepció, 12 in Palma) there will be the
presentation of the book, "Aquell hivern de Chopin a Mallorca", by Aránzazu Miró, published recently by the collection
L'esparrall de la Editorial El Far, in Palma. The presentation will by by the journalist, Jacint Planas i Sanmartí.
Aránzazu Miró was born in Palma in 1964. She is a graduate of Information Sciences at the Universidad Complutense de
Madrid, she studied music at the Real Conservatorio de Madrid and completed her training by specialising in Biblioteconomy
and Documentation. She has collaborated in the press and specialised magazines making musical comments and critics. At
present she is the librarian and at the Fundació
Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró in Mallorca.
The book covers states "In the 98 days that Frédéric Chopin spent in Mallorca during the winter of 1838-1839, he composed
some of his best works. This is the only winter of his life that he dedicated exclusively to writing music." The book, illustrated
with photographs by
Josep Maria Miró Llull, artist, engraver and writer, offers a necessary revision of the history, analyses the
music compositions we could call Mallorcan and reviews the legend that has been created around that trip.
