The "
Sa Nostra" Cultural Centre in the calle Concepció, 12 in Palma, is holding from December 19 till March 10, 2001 the
exhibition "El Toro i la Mediterrània".
The exhibition, with works by Goya, Picasso, Barceló... , include seven sections: "The bull as an economic factor", "The bull, sign of
power and authority", "The bull, sacrade expression", "The bull, sacrificial animal", "The bull and the funeral worlds", "Myths and
beliefs round the bull" and "Man's games and the bull".
According to the organsiers, "The presence of the bull has accompanied the mediterranean people since times gone by in
prehistory. This exhibition has the objective of bringing modernday man close to the currents of his history, with the leading line of
one of the most beautiful animals in Creation. His presence or influence is still evident, as it forms part of some of the social,
cultural and religious expressions of the Iberian people."
For this exhibition, Josep Guinovart has created the installation "Laberint", in the entrance hall of the Cultural Centre.
