The tradition of nativity scenes on Mallorca
Once more the Palma Town Hall is the scene of the traditional "Nativity scene of ancient professions of the mountain, plain and coast" that can now be visited in the entrance hall of the Town Hall. At the same time, the "Nativity Scene of Sant Antoniet" in the calle Sant Miquel, and the traditional exhibition at the Caputxines Convent in the calle de las Caputixens, will open on Tuesday, December 19.

The Napolitan Nativity Scene from the XCIII century that is shown every year at the Palacio March will remain closed this year due to present reforms to the building

The Casal de can Marquès, situated in the calle Zanglada in Palma, will hold an alternative to the representation of Christ's birth, the contemporary nativity scene by the Mallorcan artist, Pep Guerrero, throughout the Christmas period.

We can find such scenes all over the Island. The Son Mas castle, that is the Andratx Town Hall, houses a monumental Nativity Scene by the Andratx artist, Mateu Ferragut. Last year it was exhibited in Paris for the 2000 Jubilee and in it, the figures represent the whole humanity: different races, cultures, people and professions of the world.

The scene shown annually in the Algaida church, created with the care and work of a large number of neighbours, that attracts visitors from all over the island.
