The Andratx writer,
Baltasar Porcel,
has won the XXI Premi de les Lletres Catalanes Ramon Llull, of 10 million
pesetas, given by the
Editorial
Planeta. "L'emperador o l'ull del vent", set in Mallorca and Cabrera
in the middle of the XIX century, in Napoleon times, is the work by Porcel
that received the prize yesterday during the dinner held at the Hotel Ars
in Barcelona. The work will also be published in Spanish "El emperador
o el ojo del ciclón."
Baltasar Porcel (Andratx, 1937) is one of the writers in Catalan who
has received most prizes, some of which are: Josep Pla in 1969 for "Difunts
sota els ametllers en flor" and the Sant Jordi in 1986 for "Les primaveres
i les tardors". Since 1960 he has shared his home between Barcelona
and Mallorca, although he travels all over the world, and his articles
and books are followed by numerous readers.
