Caliu is a recently formed Mallorcan folk group, made up of a group of friends with different musical training from classical to
rock, via jazz, who are joined together by Mallorcan music. They are: Joana Maria Maiol (vocals), Joan Laínez (flutes), Josep M.
Andujar (violin), Jordi Tugores (laud), Juanal Amer i Dani Tugores (guitars), Miquel Tugores (base) and Pere Dàvila (percussion).
Their objective is to revive traditional music offering a personal interpretation of this. They perform the traditional repertoire
without renouncing their present day air, adding their own works such as the Jota "els anys que passen", the "Fandango Èpic", the
bolero "Llenya i carbó" and many others.
Precisely, the diary of vinedefesta.com presents as their topic of the month the song "L'amo de Son Carabassa" interpreted by
Caliu, that can be downloaded free from the
MP3 section of the web.
