Fiestas for Sant Sebastià in Palma
The programme organised by the Palma Town Council for the Fiestas de Sant Sebastià, the city's patron saint, will start on Saturday January 13 at 11 a.m. with the proclamation by the company Estudi Zero Teatre. Followed at 11.30 a.m. by the Parade of the Proclamation with the participation of over 30 groups, going via the plaza de Cort, plaza Major, calle Sant Miquel and plaza del Olivar. During the event the Mayor of Palma, Joan Fageda, will receive the "l'enxeneta" of the Castellers de Mallorca.

The dance for Sant Sebastia, on Friday January 19, is the most popular celebration of the fiestas. The events will start at 7 p.m. in the plaza de Santa Eulàlia with the bonfire lit by the Palma mayor, and performances by Xeremiers de Palma and the group Castellers de Mallorca. Followed by the performance on the stage in the plaza Santa Eulalia by the folk groups: Sis Som, Ximbomba Atòmica, Herbes Dolces, Revetla de Sant Antoni and Aires Sant Jordiers.

As from 10 p.m. there will be performances in six squares in the centre of Palma. In plaza de Cort: El Consorcio, Orquestra Miguel Massot, Luis Albero and Esto es La Habana. In la plaza Sant Francesc: Maita Vendecá, Nuevo Límite, Isabel de Palma and Juan Carlos Sánchez. In la plaza del Rei Joan Carles I: Teenage Fanclub, Sexy Sadie, The Nash and Slide. In la plaza de Salvador Coll: Andreu Galmés Quartet, Perikas Jazz Reunion and Hugo Socrate with Funky Time. In la plaza Major: The Christians, Raúl and Sky Line. And in la plaza del Olivar: Gossos, Antònia Font and Mal Vici.

The following day, January 20, day of Sant Sebastià, at 10.30 a.m. the solemn mass will be held in the Cathedral. At 8 p.m. there will be spectacular firework display in the bay of Palma.

Music, theatre, dances, exhibitions and sporting contests make up the programme that will end on January 28 at 8 pm. with the firework/devil street parade with the groups Dimonis d'Albopàs, Dimonis de Sant Joan, Dimonis d'Alaró and Ceballots de Montornès. The concentration will take place in the Avenida Antoni Maura going from the Plaza de la Reina, Born and Plaza Joan Carles I.
