Steve Afif at the Galeria Altair

After 10 years without exhibiting, the Egyptian artist, Steve Afif, is presenting his latest work at the Galeria Altair, C/ Sant Jaume, 23 in Palma. The exhibition, comprised of large size canvases painted with acrylic, was opened on January 16 and will remain open until the end of February.

Steve Afif (Alexandria, 1943) exhibited for the first time on Mallorca in 1979 at the Galeria Sa Pleta in Son Servera, and his last installation before temporarily stopping painting took place at the Galeria Altair in 1990.

In the catalogue that illustrates the exhibition, Bernat Rabassa Rosselló says "... we meet again with Steve Afif's work in which doubts, selfcriticism and a permanent state of alert towards selfsufficiency (too generalised in the world of art) put us with a certain candid air into an intimate and personal world of fears, obsessions and a search for identity.
