The GOB and Joan Llaneras the most voted in the survey Mallorcan 2000

For the third year running, MallorcaWeb has organised since last December 5, the poll to choose the most outstanding Mallorcan of the year. Until December 20 the preliminary stage took place when users could make proposals via the form available on the Debate-poll web or by using e-mails. The online questionnaire to vote the most outstanding Mallorcan for 2000, with a list of six candidates who received the most support in the preliminary stage, started on December 21, 2000 and ended on January 10, 2001 with a total of 1,010 votes submitted.

The results of the poll "Who is the most outstanding Mallorcan of the year 2000?":

1.- 239 votos (23%). The ecological association GOB, for their work in favour or defence of Mallorca.
2.- 207 votos (20%). The cyclist Joan Llaneras, for wining the gold medal at the the Sydney Olympic Games.
3.- 159 votos (15%). The swimmer Xavi Torres, for his achievements at the Sydney Paralympic Games.
4.- 158 votos (15%). Jaume Santandreu, from the association El Refugi, for his help to underprivileged.
5.- 123 votos (12%). Músics per la llengua, for their support to the Mallorcan musicians and to the normalization of the Catalan language.
6.- 122 votos (12%). Miquel Barceló, for his artistic work.
