The
Basler Festival
Orchester, together with the pianists Francesc Blanco and Ma Victoria
Cortés, and the narrator, Caterina Alorda, will offer a series of
concerts from February 16 to 18, in different scenic areas of Mallorca,
within the programme "
AWinter
in Mallorca" and the
Winter
Festival of Classical Music. Directed by Thomas Herzog, they
will perform two works for narrator and Chamber Orchestra that combine
live music and reading "The Animal Carnival" by C. Saint-Saëns and
"Liliana" by Salvador Brotons.
"El Carnaval dels animals" presents us the different musical parts
as various stages of a visit to the zoo, with explanations about
the character and musical line of the pieces. "Liliana" is a poem
by Apel·les Mestres, with music by Salvador Brotons and is presented
as a fable about living with and the protection of nature by man.
