The Fundación Cátedra Iberoamericana was created at the
end of last year thanks to an initiative of the Balearic University (UIB).
Their objectives are the cooperation programmes connected with education,
training, research and communication between countries of Latin America.
The Foundation is presided by the rector of the UIB, Llorenç
Huguet, and amongst its sponsors are the
Balearic
Government, the
Calvia Town Council,
the hotel firm
Barceló, the
Banco Santander,
Sa
Nostra,
Air Europa,
Telefónica,
the
Fundació Universitat Empresa
de les Illes Balears, and the business group
CAEB.
Recently, the Spanish
princess
Cristina, Duchess of Palma de Mallorca, accepted the Honorific Presidency
of the Fundación Cátedra Iberoamericana de la UIB, which
she was offered during the first meeting of the group held at the end of
last November, because of her relation with the Balearics and the special
attention paid by the
Casa Real for
all the topics of collaboration with the Latin-American countries.
