Marratxí holds from March 2 to 11 the traditional "Pottery Fair"
that reaches this year the seventeenth edition. The fair includes
a wide sample of pots, jugs, plates and all kinds of objects made
from clay.. These have been made for many years by the small family workshops
of the municipality, in the area of Sa Cabaneta and above all, in Pòrtol.
Producers and businesses from other towns of Mallorca will also participate,
such as from Palma, Inca, Selva, Felanitx, Llucmajor...; and
also from Mahon (Menorca), from La Bisbal (Girona) and from Puente Arzobispo
(Toledo).
The production of pots, helped by the abundance of red clay in the surroundings,
has converted "the clay industry" into the most characteristic element
of Marratxí and therefore the prestige of the traditional Pottery
Fair. The programme of events for this year includes demonstrations, workshops,
exhibitions, conferences, competitions, music and dancing.
The fair will be held as usual at the Restaurant Ses Tres Germanes,
carretera de Inca, Km. 8,5.
Times: Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 8
p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
