The Balearic Government's Cabinet extraordinary meeting held
on July 24 2000,
authorised
the Insular Councils of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza & Formentera to
formulate a provisional norm, prior to the respective urban planning the
mentioned entities will have to approve.
The full Mallorcan Council meeting approved definitely, on October 25
2000, the
Provisional
Territorial Norm, known popularly as the Moratorium, which adopted
provisional measures to assure the viability of the Mallorcan Urban Planning.
In contrast to the
previous
proposal, presented on July 28, 2000, the norm approved widened the
moratorium to include the Calvia Marina and an area in Palma. The
moratorium was voted favourably by all the groups on the Council, except
for the Popular Party that abstained.
Now, the
Mallorcan Council
has presented the web dedicated to
Mallorcan
Urban Planning. Until its final approval, the plan must go through
seven phases which should take 27 months.
The creation of the Mallorcan Territorial Plan was adjudicated to Unión
Temporal de Empresas (UTE) comprised by the companies: MECSA and IDOM.
