The president of the
Consell
de Mallorca, Maria Antònia Munar, presented last February 12
the
Observatori Permanent de
la Societat de la Informació, at the headquarters of the
Cámara
de Comercio. The initiative, promoted by the insular institution and
the Balearic University, (
UIB), intends
to offer proposals aimed at developing the new information technologies.
The professor of the UIB,
Llorenç
Valverde participated in the presentation. The rector of the
university, Llorenç Huguet and the excouncillor for Energy of the
Balearic Government Misericordia Ramon were also present, and
this was the last official act that she attended before presenting her
resignation
as councillor last Thursday, February 15.
The initiative joins other similar ones that are being carried out by
different administrations:
Pla BIT
Segle XXI, by the Balearic Government;
INFO
XXI, by the Spanish government;
e-Europe,
by the European Union.
At the end of last year, MallorcaWeb proposed in the space
Debate-poll
the following question: Do the institutions give enough support to
the information society? The 'No' won clearly with 83% of the votes.
