Next Friday, April 6, at 8 p.m. the Auditorium of the Cultural Centre
of "
Sa Nostra" in Palma will
hold a concert by the Chamber Choir "Canticum" and several vocal soloists
from the opera of Szeged in Hungary. They will perform "La
petitte Messe Solemnelle" by Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868).
The Canticum choir, founded in 1979, is a Hungarian formation with much
tradition in connection to oratorios and operas in concert versions.
Directed from their beginnings by Sandor Gyüdi, the choir performs
usually in this kind of programme, together with opera personalities from
Szeged, all of international repute.
Regularly, the Canticum choir carries out recordings for Hungarian television,
and also for the British BBC and Italian RAI. In the last few years
it has carried out short concert tours round Cuba, Germany, Russia, Italy,
Great Britain and Spain. Three years ago they performed in the cycle
S'horta-Arts at the s'Horta church in Felanitx, with the "Passion according
to Saint John" by J. S. Bach.
