The "Nou diccionari de neologismes", elaborated by
Termcat
and edited by
Edicions 62,
supported by the Department for Culture of the
Generalitat
de Catalunya and the Council for Culture of the
Balearic
Government, has compiled 4,277 neologisms in Catalan (new words) that
have been normalised between 1986 and 2000.
The terms are presented alphabetically, with the equivalents in Castilian
Spanish, French and English, an indication of the topic field it belongs
to and the definition, plus other items of interest.
The new publication will be presented on Thursday, March 29 at 7 p.m.
at the
Fundación "la Caixa",
plaza Weyler, 2 in Palma. The ceremony will be attended by the Councillor
for Education and Culture of the Balearic Government, the Councillor for
Culture of the Catalan Generalitat and Professor Sebastià Serrano,
professor for General Linguistics at the Barcelona University, who will
give a conference on "Terminologia, comunicació i cultura".
