Palma will hold the "IX World Folkdance Festival" between April 17
and 21 in which Balearic folk groups will take part, such as the Associació
Sa Colla from Formentera, Aires d'Andratx and Balladors de Lluc; plus also
groups from all over the world.
On Tuesday, April 17 as from 6 p.m. the participating groups will parade
through the centre of Palma (calle Oms, Sant Miquel and plaza Major) and
at 7 p.m. the inaugural ceremony and official welcome will take place in
the Plaza Major.
On Wednesday 18, Thursday 19 and Friday 20, the dancers will perform
all day on the different stages that will be installed in the Paseo Born,
plaza Major, Parc de la Mar, plaza Olivar and plaza Espanya. Also, on Thursday
19 and Friday 20, at the Auditorium in Palma, the competition side
will take place; and at 10 p.m. free galas will be performed for the public.
The festival will end on Saturday, April 21 at Ses Voltes with a Grand
Finale Gala and the prize giving.
