FIRÓ 2001: The Moors from Sóller on Internet

Coinciding with the celebration of the "Firó 2001" in Sóller, the cultural association "Col·lectiu de Moros 11 de Maig" have presented their web (mallorcaweb.net/morossoller) with extensive information about their history and about the "Firó", which is a traditional fiesta about " The Moors and the Christians".

The "Firo" is organized by the "Coordinadora de la Festa 11 de Maig", the "Col·lectiu de Moros 11 de Maig", the "Col·lectiu de Pagesos i Bandolers Sant Ponç 1561", the "Col·lectiu de Pageses" and the City Council.

The "Firó" is a historical re-enactment of the repression of the invasion and landing in the Port of Soller in May 1561, and the final victory by the Sollerics after three battles, the last of which takes place in the main square. The "Firó" will be held this year on Monday, May 14.
