Next Saturday, May 26, at the Auditorium
Sa
Màniga in Cala Millor the play "Don Juan" can be seen, presented
by the company Iliacan; a new recreation of the mythical Don Juan from
a contemporary perspective, directed by Alvaro de la Peña. The play
premiered last March at the Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona and
this is the first time it has been presented on Mallorca.
Continuing with premiers on Mallorca, on Saturday, June 2, Sa Màniga
will present "Popcorn" a Catalan version of the popular work by Ben Elton
adapted by Àngel Alonso to the Barcelona reality. "Popcorn",
in a cutting and ironic format , is the reproduction in the theatre of
the world of Hollywood, its industry, the academy, the producers and directors.
It premiered at the Sala Villarroel in Barcelona in December 2000.
Also in June, Sa Màniga will hold on Saturday 16, the production
"Ay, Carmela!" by José Sanchis Sinisterra, directed by Antonio
Simón Rodríguez. The production will also be seen at the
Auditori
d'Alcúdia, on Friday, June 15. The play is based on two
insignificant "artists" with "little political conscience", Carmela and
Paulino, who only wish to survive in their jobs in circumstance adverse
to their art. This production by the Teatre Nou Tantarantana from
Barcelona premiered last January.
