The temporary exhibition hall of the Museu d'Art Espanyol Contemporani
of the
Fundación Juan March will
hold from August 13 to October 27 the exhibition "Gottlieb Monotipos".
The exhibition, organised together with the
Adolph
and Esther Gottlieb Foundation, comprises a selection of 40 works in
ink or oils on paper, carried out between 1973 and 1974 by Adolph Gottlieb
(New York 1903-1974).
Gottlieb, together with Milton Avery, Mark Rothko and John Graham, was
one of the first creators of abstract expressionism that was developed
in New York as from the 50s.
The Museu d'Art Espanyol Contemporani exhibits permanently 58 works,
paintings and sculptures, by Spanish contemporary artists, such as Picasso,
Miró, Dalí, Tàpies and Barceló, amongst others.
