The minister for
Environment, Jaume
Matas, and the mayor of
Palma,
Joan Fageda, announced last July 20 the investment of 2,200 million pesetas
to create an information centre for the National Park of Cabrera in the
Torre d'en Pau, in Coll d'en Rabassa in Palma.
The council of
Ses Salines
has shown their disagreement with this announcement and has demanded the
installation of the centre in Colònia de Sant Jordi, the closest
coastal village to Cabrera, from where all the boat visits and supplies
are organised.
The
GOB Mallorca has shown
in ,
a press release,
their support for the town council of Ses Salines. According to the ecological
organisation, although Cabrera belongs administratively to the municipality
of Palma, it shows more common sense for the doorway to the park on Mallorca
should be at Colònia de Sant Jordi, and not Coll d'en Rebassa.
