The Natural Park of the Serra Llevant will be the largest protected
area in the Balearics and the first that will bear in mind both the preservation
of the natural surroundings and the promotion of the economic activity
of the area. .
The councillor for
Environment,
Margalida Rosselló, presented last Friday, May 12, the Advance of
the Plan for Administration of Natural Resources (PORN) for the Llevant
Peninsula, that includes the proposal of the Natural Park of Llevant.
Since then meetings have been held with all the affected groups, and informative
tables have been set up in all the affected muncipalities :
Artà,
Capdepera,
Son
Servera,
Santa
Margalida and
Sant
Llorenç.
Last Friday, August 3, the
Balearic Government,
in the cabinet meeting, approved initially the PORN for the Llevant Peninsula,
written by the
Environement department
with the intervention of the implicated town councils. The Plan finally
contains a great number of the suggestions from the different groups of
owners and protection groups, such as the
GOB
Mallorca, or the
Plataforma
Pro Parc de Llevant, that they had been proposing.
