Natural Park of Llevant

Natural Park of Llevant
The Natural Park of the Serra Llevant will be the largest protected area in the Balearics and the first that will bear in mind both the preservation of the natural surroundings and the promotion of the economic activity of the area. .

The councillor for Environment, Margalida Rosselló, presented last Friday, May 12, the Advance of the Plan for Administration of Natural Resources (PORN) for the Llevant Peninsula, that includes the proposal of the Natural Park of Llevant. Since then meetings have been held with all the affected groups, and informative tables have been set up in all the affected muncipalities :Artà, Capdepera, Son Servera, Santa Margalida and Sant Llorenç.

Last Friday, August 3, the Balearic Government, in the cabinet meeting, approved initially the PORN for the Llevant Peninsula, written by the Environement department with the intervention of the implicated town councils. The Plan finally contains a great number of the suggestions from the different groups of owners and protection groups, such as the GOB Mallorca, or the Plataforma Pro Parc de Llevant, that they had been proposing.
