Queen Sofia presides the opening of the Residencia Reina Sofía
of the Centre de Tecnificació Esportiva Illes Balears (CTEIB), on
Tuesday, August 28 at 11 a.m. at the
Escuela
Nacional de Vela de Calanova. The ceremony is also attended by the
president of the Balearic Government, Francesc Antich, the Councillor for
Wellfare, Fernanda Caro and other authorities. .
The Residencia Reina Sofía is intended to become a meeting point
for sailing teams who seek high quality training programmes.
The Conselleria de Bienestar has produced a
web
dedicated to the new residency with full information about the services
available. The government page, published in Spanish and English,
ignores the Balearic and Pitiüses language, which contrasts with the
declarations in favour of the protection of the Catalan language that the
vicepresident of the Govern, Pere Sampol, has been making recently.
