The patron saint festivities for Sant Mateu reach
Bunyola
today.
The fiestas programme will start this afternoon at 6.30 p.m. with the
tradition chiming of bells, placing of flags and throwing of sweets with
the xeremiers. This will be followed by the street parade with the
Drac Xinès (Chines Dragon) that will go round all the streets of
Bunyola with its colours and sounds, inviting all the children to
form part of its belly, accompanied by drums and fireworks.
The festivities will last for eight days, until Sunday September 23,
with a wide programme of activities that will include exhibitions, concerts,
sport, games and children's workshops.
The interesting proposals will include the "Exhibition of Mallorcan
Dances" by the
Escola
de Ball de Bunyola, that will take place in Sa Plaça on Friday
21, Saint Matthew's day, at 9.45 p.m.; the "Nit de Revetlla" (popular dance)
for youngsters and not so young, to be held the same day and same place,
as from 11.45 p.m. with The Soret's Bunyola Band, Poques Feines,
Mal
Vici,
Daniel i la
Quartet de Baño Band and Sa Filharmònica de Son Reus.
The fiestas will end on Sunday 23 in the evening with the "Revista Tropicalíssim"
presented by Esperança Font with Trío Brazil, Café
Latino, Pirouette and the inimitable Agustín “El Casta”, and a grand
