On December 28, the President of the
Mallorcan
Council, Maria Antònia Munar, and the Minister of
Environment
of the Spanish central Government, Jaume Matas, decided to by the Raixa
property for 1.400 millions of pesetas.
Thus, the German designer Jil Sander will not be able to execute the
purchase option for Raixa that she had signed in November with the heirs
of Antoni Jaume Nadal, current owners of the emblematic stately home situated
in the municipality of Bunyola.
The signed agreement states that the Ministry of Environment will contribute
with 1.000 millions of pesetas in the acquisition of the property and the
Mallorcan Council will pay the other 400 millions. According to the Press
Cabinet of the Mallorcan Council, once Raixa becomes publicly owned, a
mixed commission will be created to rehabilitate the property with the
participation of the Mallorcan Council and the Ministry of Environment.
When the building works are finished, the property will become the headquarters
of the Foundation "Parques Nacionales" of the Balearic Islands.
