Alternative Environmental Summit

Within the events programmed by the Spanish Presidency of the European Union, from May 24 to 26, an informal Meeting of Ministers for Environment of the European Union will take place in Palma, presided by the Mallorcan Jaume Matas, ex-president of the Balearic Government and current Minister for Environment of the Central Spanish Government.

The "Plataforma per a la Democràcia i la Globalització Social", formed by some fifty social and political organisations from Mallorca, has organised an Alternative Summit with the slogan "Another environment is possible". Amongst the programmed events, that will coincide with the Meeting of Ministries of the EU, on May 24 there will be a camp of tents at the Parc de la Mar, a cycling march in the centre of Palma and a folk night at camping area. On May 25 there will be a demonstration that will end with a big party also at the Parc de la Mar.
