The objective of this Conference is to provide an interdisciplinary
forum for discussion of the present state of knowledge of storms in the
Mediterranean environment, in relation to both their meteorological and
hydrological aspects and their coastal and inland effects, such as surges,
floods and landslides.
The main focus will be on a better understanding of the involved physical
processes, the application of remote sensing technologies to the study
and management of these extreme phenomena, and the value of numerical modelling
for the predictability of heavy rain and/or strong wind producing storms
and for the development of anticipated land responses.
