"Cavallets" and dances in Felanitx for Sant Agustí
Felanitx will celebrate from August 23 to September 1 the "Festes de Sant Agustí", an important date in the festive calendar of the municipality and one of the most popular summer celebrations in Mallorca, because of the traditional elements it conserves and because of the dances known as "Verbenes" with famous groups that year after year attract thousands of visitors from all over the island.

The fiestas will start officially on Friday August 23 at 8.30 p.m. with the Proclamation of the fiestas by Pere Estelrich Massutí. This follows in the Plaza de Sa Font with refreshments for all, and performances by the Municipal Band and the Al·lots de Llevant and Castellers de Mallorca (human towers). The programme for this first day of the fiestas will end at 11.30 p.m. at the Municipal Parc with the first dance with music by Carlos Baute, Sapo, Antònia Font, Tumbet de Solfa and Deep South.

The other four dances programmed will be held, at the same time and place, on Saturday 24 with music by El Canto del Loco, Alex Ubago, Katovits, Angel Frau and Orquestra Honey; on Wednesday 28 by Orquidea Big Band, Salsa 4, Orquestra Química Latina and Horris Kamoi; on Friday 30 by Camela, Oxalis, Wuzzup, Orquestrina d'Algaida and Cocktail; and finally on Saturday 31 by Los Planetas, Joan Toni Skarabat, Orquestra Rodamons, La Gran Orquesta Republicana and Hijos de Matxin.

Except the dance on Friday 28, which is free, the tickets for the concerts cost 12 euros and can be acquired at the box office of the Municipal Parc.

There is also a concert programmed for Thursday 29 by David Bisbal and Chenoa, but the 1,200 tickets for this concert are all sold out.

As well as the dances, the "Festes de Sant Agustí" include a wide and varied range of cultural, ludic and sporting activities for all ages. Worth mentioning, amongst other interesting proposals, is the traditional fair "Fira de Sant Agustí", that will take place on Sunday 25, as from 9 a.m.; and the street parade with "cavallets, dimonis i caparrots" on Tuesday 27, as from 7 p.m.; which will be repeated on Wednesday 28, the day of Sant Agustí, as from 9 a.m. This day "Els cavallets" will dance again in the square of the Convent de Sant Agustí, after the 11 a.m. Mass.

The full programme of activities can be found on the web of the Felanitx Town Council
