As from last Saturday, the people from Ses Salines are celebrating
the patron saint festivities for Sant Bartomeu. The festive programme includes
cultural, sporting and entertainment activities until August 31. Amongst
others, a concert by s'Arrual Jazz Mort within the
Festival
de Jazz a la Fresca (Monday 19 at 11 p.m.), a Mallorcan party with
music by Quart Creixent (Tuesday 20 at 10.30 p.m.), and a concert by the
Banda
de Música de Ses Salines (Wednesday 21 at 10 p.m.).
On Thursday night, August 22, there will be a show by Vivian Caoba,
who will present the ecologist campaign "El comerç, amic del medi
ambient" promoted by the
GOB and
the
General
Direction of Waste, and a performance by
Joan
Carles Bestard who will put on stage the play "Madò Pereta se
confessa".
On Friday 23 the activities will begin at 6 p.m. with a street parade
and the traditional collection of "joies", accompanied by devils and "xeremiers",
and followed by a big children's party and painting contest. The day will
end with an open air dance and music by the groups Espais Verds and La
Gran Orquestra Rodamons.
On Saturday 24, the day of Sant Bartomeu, amongst other activities there
will be races and popular games as from 5 p.m., the of solemn Mass and
the dance "Ball de l'Oferta" at 7 p.m., and theatre by the local group
Quart Creixent at 10 p.m. On Sunday there will only be two football matches.
After a five days' rest, on Saturday 31 the programme will continue
with the "Festa del Cavall" that will be held as from 8 p.m.
