The fiestas for Sant Bartomeu in Sóller will beging on Thursday,
August 15, and will continue until August 25.
The programme includes many cultural, popular and sporting activities.
Worth stressing is the art exhibition by the local artist Juli Ramis (Sóller,
1909- Palma, 1990), that will open on Saturday 24 at the Casal de Cultura-Museu
in Sóller, just after an extraordinary plenary meeting of the Town
Council where he will be nominated illustrious son of the town. Also worth
mentioning is the opening of the "Sala Joan Bauzá de Paleontologia"
at the Museu Balear de Cičncies Naturals on Saturday 17.
As for the musical choice, amongst other proposals, there will be a
jazz concert organised by the Jeunesses Musicales from Sóller with
the group Desigjazz on Thursday 22 at 10 p.m. in the garden of the Casal
de Cultura-Museu de Sóller, the performance by the local music band
on Saturday 24 at 1 p.m. outside the Town Hall, and the performances by
Show Band Testa-Rossa and the orchestras Mŕgic Band and Grup Carles
Grimalt, the same Saturday at night.
Other interesting activities are the folk dances on Sunday 25 at 6 p.m.
with the groups
Aires Sollerics
and Estol de Tramuntana, and the fire races by the local group
Esclatabutzes
the same day at 11.30 p.m.
