The people of Costitx are celebrating these days their summer fiestas
dedicated to the Virgin of September. There will be seven days of festivities
between September 1 and 12. This weekend, 6 to 8, the central part
of the programme will take place including the typical celebrations of
the fiestas such as the street parade, the evening dances, children's games
and fireworks, as well as several exhibitions and other cultural events.
Amongst the proposals is the Youth Night on Friday 6 with Batucada, Capoeira
and the performance by the groups Oprimits and Antònia Font.
On Saturday, amongst other events there will be a cake exhibition, firework
display and the popular dance with the groups Cocktail, Cristal and Tumbet
de Solfa. Sunday 8, the Virgin's Day, as from 12 noon there will be Solemn
Mass, the dance of the Offertory and the concert by the Parish Choir, and
in the afternoon, sports activities, races of 'joies' and other popular
games. The day will end with a musical review Moulin Rouge, presented by
Esperança Font with the guest artist, Joan Carles Bestard as Madò
Pereta.
On Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 the festivities will continue and the programme
will end on Thursday 12 with a Majorcan Dance with Aires del Pla from Llucmajor
and Sarau Alcudienc to celebrate the
Diada
de Mallorca.
