"Sweet Paprika Fair" in Felanitx

On Sunday the "Fira des Pebre Bord" will be held in Felanitx. This fair conserves the name that it had when it was used by the local families to buy the "pebre bord" that they would later use to make "sobrassada". Nowadays the fair continues to be an important date in Felanitx that announces the beginning of the traditional "matances" (pig killing).

The programme that the Town Hall has organised for the "Fira des Pebre Bord 2002" begins today and will continue until Sunday 20. Concerts, exhibitions, theatre and entertainment activities will complement the commercial, artisan and agricultural fair. The choir SINÄJOKI (Finland) will perform on Thursday, Teatre de la Sargantana and the local band on Friday, Jaume Prohens will open an exhibition on Saturday, Jazz Tà Big Band will play on Sunday, and a show of "gloses" (traditional oral poetry) will end the fair.
